When Gum Infection Already Takes Place

Red, tender, puffy, swollen and gums that bleeds easily especially during brushing are the manifestations that gum infection is taking its place. Gum infection can lead to periodontal disease and periodontitis, and when left unchecked they can cause destruction of gums and tooth and even tooth loss at its worst case. Persistent bad breath, bleeding and swollen gums can be experienced when gum infection is left untreated and bacteria is not eliminated. Bacteria as the leading cause of gum infection can spread over the entire body system and can trigger the development of certain medical conditions.

Gum infection treatment is necessary to prevent further progression of the condition. Treatment mat be done at home if condition is on its early stage, however if condition is already serious it should be administered by your dental care professional. Periodontal surgery may even be recommended depending on the severity of the condition. But it is really important to have your dental condition checked by your dentist.
